Bike Marking Event 20th March 2016
West Mercia Police are holding a FREE bike marking evening on Sunday 20th March 2016 from 11am - 1pm on The Lock PH car park (near the tea rooms)
Whole School PE lesson
Friday 18th March
All the children and pupils (yes I do own trainers) will take part in a whole school PE lesson on Mill Lane from 11am on Friday 18th March.
Pupils can come to school in their 'sporty clothes' for the day and if wish bring a donation for Sport Relief that takes place the same day.
Miss Bidnell and Mr McDonnell will lead the event and parents are welcome to join in!!!
World Book Day
Thursday 3rd March
Pupils can come to school dressed as their favourite book character and bring to school their favourite book to share during the day. Mr. Price will arrange a variety of World Book Day themed activities for all the children during the day. A book token will be issued to each pupil to use in a near by book shop. Further details to follow soon.

We are still in the top 10% of Primary Schools Nationwide!
At Wolverley Sebright VA Primary School 94% of pupils achieve level 4B or above putting the school in the top 10% of primary schools nationwide, the top 10% of primary schools in Worcestershire and in the top 10% of schools like us for the second year running!
100% achieved level 4 or above in Reading

94% achieved level 4 or above in Maths
100% of pupils made expected or above expected progress in Reading

The Average Point Score at Key Stage 2 is 30.3 Pupils at Wolverley Sebright VA Primary School score on average 1.3 points more than other primary schools nationwide and schools in Worcestershire. Pupils score on average 5C across all subjects.
We Will Rock You!
The pupils at Wolverley Secondary School begin a week of performing to pupils and families - We Will Rock You!
Children from Woodpeckers and Owls will go to see the morning performance tomorrow. Miss Bidnell, Mr Price and staff from Key Stage 2 will walk with the pupils through the village to the school just after registration. They will return to have lunch in our school by 1pm.
Please make sure your child has a snack and drink to take with them.
Valentine's Disco
A big thank you to all the parents who cooked, served and created a very special School Disco on Friday. All the children loved every minute and are very grateful to everyone for their support.
New Windows
Starting from next week we have having several of the old windows replaced in school. The offices will be the first windows replaced and the main door Key Stage 2 come into school and the door Squirrels come into school will also be replaced.
During half term the windows in the main hall, Miss Bidnell classroom and the nursery will also be replaced.
We can not wait for our new windows!
NSPCC
Kia Giles from the NSPCC came into school today to speak to the children about the charity and how we could help raise funds.
Each class have been set a challenge and have been asked if they could collect sponsors. It is not a competition and Kia made it very clear that raising just £1 would make a difference.
Kia will be back on 24th February to hand out special badges to the children who have taken part.

Decorations – School council to give each child a card heart to decorate – these will then be hung in the hall

Music – Martin Bennett is ok to do – New cable needed for laptop?? Mrs R-W to confirm
Tattoos – Mrs Cadwallader to do – has this been confirmed? Other helpers needed. Possibilities – Miss White, Rachel Stiles, Tracy Butterfield. Are any more tattoo supplies needed?
Sarah Hartridge to provide and wash potatoes. Sarah needs final numbers by Tuesday.
Potatoes and Sausages need to be cooked beforehand – any volunteers??
Help needed from 2pm to cut bread rolls, prepare plates, cups, squash etc. Classroom to be rearranged prior to 3pm.

Easter
Church service to be held from 1pm – 2pm
Everyone will then be invited back to school for tea and cake (tea and cake to be priced rather than for donations) and an Easter egg tombola.
Children to do bake off, bonnet and egg decorating competition at school.
Bingo and Chips
Propose to hold event on Friday 22nd April 6.30pm – 8pm
Need bigger venue to hold the event – potentially Wolverley Secondary School
Bingo machine – Bingo is held at Wolverley Social Club – could see what they use and if we can borrow it.
Mrs R-W has volunteered to be bingo caller
Needs to be prize bingo – adults prizes and childrens prizes. Prize for 1 line and full house.
Proposed pricing 50p a book. Chips to be sold at cost.
Bag2School
Next collection booked for Wednesday 15th June. The bags will be sent to school – these then need to be sent out to parents with a letter. The bags will need to be taken to the collection point (by the back gate) on collection day.
Bottle Tombola
Bottle tombola to be held at Wolverley Carnival. Parents to set up the stall. Staff to man during procession. Rota to be drawn up for the rest of the afternoon.

Has anyone got a small freezer we could borrow for the night to put ice creams in? We have a generator to run it. Drinks and sweets will be purchased from Makro. This should all keep the cost down for parents.
Raffle – Nicky Hawken has already been nominated to sell tickets following her stellar performance last year!!

Target
Mrs R-W has requested a shelter on the field for use in the (hopefully) sunny weather. Although this will cost a large amount of money it will be well used and provide much needed shelter. If anyone has any objections to this please speak up. It’s hoped to get it done March/April time and have a grand opening at fun on the field so everyone can see what their money has been used for.
Educate against hate
An "Educate against hate" website has been launched by England's Education Secretary Nicky Morgan, as part of a renewed drive against extremism.
The website holds information for schools and parents.
The anti-radicalisation website promises to provide "practical advice to protect children from the dangers of extremism", with information from the government and groups such as the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).
It includes information on:
§ warning signs of danger
§ how parents should talk to children about extremism
§ steps concerned parents can take
