Homework

Online Homework:

Following the success of the online home schooling and the use of Google Classroom and Education City and also to minimise the number of books going to and from school, all homework in the Summer term will be set on line. It will be set either using Google Classroom or Education City. To access both of these platforms you will need your child's 'Wonde' password. You should already have a copy of these at home, and your child's teacher will also stick a copy in the front of your child's reading record book. Click on the link below, and follow the instructions to log into Wonde. You will then be able to access your child's Google Classroom as well as the 'My City' homework that has been set for them on Education City by their teacher.

Maths and English homework will be set on a Thursday to be completed by the following Tuesday. Miss Childs will check on Education City that the homework has been completed and children will be rewarded for completing it. Spellings will be set on a Friday. The children will be tested the following Friday and new spellings will be provided. Any children who didn't manage to get their homework done at home will be given the opportunity to complete it at lunch time.

Reading:

Reading is THE most important thing you can do with your child. In Robins, we use a pirate ship as a means to support reading at home. Starting from a Thursday to the following Thursday (starting date to be confirmed), it is expected that your child reads at home 5 times within this week. Each child is given a pirate coin with their name on and every time they read at home, they can move their coin up the pirate ship. Each time you read with your child at home, please ensure that you record this in their reading record, otherwise your child will not be able to move their coin up the pirate ship. If they achieve 5 reads within a week, your child will be given a pirate sticker. Achieve more than 5 reads a week, they will receive a pirate sticker and their their name will be put into a raffle for the chance to win a prize at half term. Reading books will be changed on a Monday and Thursday. If you finish a book please make it clear that the book has been finished and you require a new book on book change day. If the book is finished before book change day, please still read with your child. This can be the same book again, which is great for fluency and understanding of the text.
