Phonics
In Hedgehogs class we use Jolly Phonics to support the teaching of phonics throughout the year. The children will be introduced to "a sound a day". They will learn to read and write each phoneme, and will also practice the skills of blending (to read) and segmenting (to write). They will bring home a 'sound book' each day with the new phoneme stuck in. It is the hope that you help the children by practicing reading and writing the phonemes with them each day.
