Growing

Our topic for this Summer term is ‘Growing’. The first half term we will be looking at Peter Rabbit. We will be making a ‘Mr. McGregor’s’ garden at forest school with additional sessions. We will learn about vegetables and fruit by growing our own. The Tale of Peter Rabbit will heavily influence our writing too. During the second half term we will develop growing further by looking at ourselves. How much we’ve grown this year and beginning the transition to year 1. I will be asking the children to bring in baby photos so we can guess who is who. We will be asking questions like What do plants need to grow? What do we need to grow?  

We will also be using a key text each half term to base our learning around. This first half term we will be reading The tale of Peter Rabbit and creating our own story maps. Next half term we will be looking at the ‘Supertato’ series of stories, making our very own Super Potatoes!
