Homework

Homework will be set in Maths and English and will be issued and explained on a Thursday to be completed by the following Tuesday.

Homework in Swallows will be set online via Google Classroom or Education City. The procedure for accessing this remains unchanged: all you need is your child's 'Wonde' password and an Internet enabled device. There is a copy of the Wonde password in your child's reading record book if you need it. Click on the link below, and follow the instructions to log into Wonde. You will then be able to access your child's Google Classroom as well as any 'My City' homework that has been set for them on Education City by their teacher.

We will check on Education City and Google Classroom that the homework has been completed and help if children are having any difficulties. Any children, who didn't manage to get their homework done at home, will be given the opportunity to complete it at lunch or break time.

Spellings

Every week, children will be tested on spellings on a Thursday morning. They will then be given the next set of words to learn for the following week.

Times Tables

All children have access to TT Rockstars, which can be accessed via their 'Wonde' login, and should make regular use of the website to support tables fluency each week. The table being tested will be targeted in the 'Garage' section of TT Rockstars, but general practise of all tables are available using other modes (such as studio). We will target specific tables wherever needed and aim to improve fluency weekly.  The children will be tested on their times tables fluency on a Tuesday morning.

Reading

In upper key stage 2 there is still an expectation that all children should be reading at home daily, whether independently or to adults, and logging this in their reading record. Book talk is a great way for you to help your child understand what they are reading and develop a joy of reading. We regularly check off Readathon points for completing books and mark these in their reading records.

We also have class access to Oxford Owls, an online library, which is especially useful if the children forget to bring home their reading book. Login details will be in the children's reading record.

Their reading records, spelling and tables books should be kept in their school bags for easy access, so that they can practise at school and at home.
