With SATS coming up in May we are trying to do all we can to prepare children in school, but to help at home - here are some links and info about the tests:
Tests children will do:
Maths: Two maths papers levels 3-5 (there is no calculator paper this year, both are non-calculator - similar to previous test A) and a timed mental maths test.
Literacy: A 20 question spelling test and 45min grammar test. A reading comprehension test.
Some sites to help:
www.satspapers.org - a site where you can view and print off previous years SATs papers (and mark schemes to check the answers). The best practice for the SATs is to know what to expect, and focusing on the questions you don't understand - so that you can improve.
http://resources.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/revision/ - A good site where the areas are broken in to sections. Lots of online games.
BBC KS2 bitesize - If there are sections which need explaining, this website is able to explain and break learning down in to chunks, rather than just asking questions.
Education city - the maths section in particular has tests which can identify problem areas (then suggest games to help explain).
More information will be added soon, but for now, these sites should serve as a good starting point for anybody wanting to be as prepared as possible.
