Reading

Reading is THE most important thing you can do with your child at home. The difference that reading at home makes to your child's education is amazing and it doesn't need to be for hours each evening. Even just a couple of pages each night it makes such a difference. The expectation is that your child will read at home every night. If they do not have an opportunity to read to someone at home then they will have an opportunity to read at break time so they do not fall behind with their reading. Please ensure that you record in the reading record book when your child has read at home. Reading books will be changed on a Thursday and Friday. If you finish a book please make it clear that the book has been finished and you require a new book on book change day.

Phonics Folders

We are in the process of putting together Phonics folders for each child where we will be sending 2 phonics worksheets to be completed each week to embed the learning that the children had learnt in their phonics lessons that week. These should not take very long but the benefits to their learning are very important for a deep understanding. We plan to send these home with a reading book on a Friday to then be handed in the following Thursday for the new sheets to be added and the books to be changed.
