• Macmillan Coffee Morning

  Macmillan Coffee Morning 

   

  Our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning took place today following our Harvest Service. Donations of cakes were brought into school and with the help of our School Association and members of our School Council were sold this morning and after school. 

  So far we have raised just over £200!

  What a wonderful start to our autumn term - all the pupils took part in singing songs and reading poetry this morning in church. 

   

  The children in Owls started our service followed by Hedgehogs who sang for the first time in the church. Robins and Squirrels sang with confidence and enjoyed taking part in the service. The pupils in Woodpeckers could not wait to sing and dance the 'Samba'. Pupils in Kingfishers read poetry and also sang two songs to all our families and friends who joined us. It was left to the pupils in year 6 to conclude the service with a poem - well done! 

   

  We hope you enjoyed our Harvest Service as much as we did!

• Our new WHP link worker

  WHP Link Worker

   

  Kellie Brick will be our new WHP link worker replacing Sarah Tustain.

  Parents and pupils will be able to meet her at our Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday 30th September.

  The dates beloe have been scheduled for drop-ins 2.30pm - 3.30pm. Kellie will be based in the staff room providing parents with an opportunity to discuss any questions they may have about their child in school or at home.

• School Council Elections

  School Council Elections

   

  From Wednesday 7th September School Council Application forms will be available for pupils to take and complete. This year we are also looking for pupils who will want to take on the additional role of Minister. We will be holding elections on Tuesday 20th September for the following positions:

   

  Prime Minister: As Prime Minister you will take on the views of all the members of the School Council and have to report to Mrs Reeves-Walters weekly (just think of me as the Queen). You will also become part of the Senior Leadership Team within school and be instrumental in making decisions about our school.

   

  Education Minister: As Education Minister you will take part in learning walks; visiting each class and finding out what the pupils are learning about and what they enjoy.  You will feed back to the Prime Minister during the monthly meetings.

   

  Health Minister: As Health Minister you will ensure our school is a healthy School by feeding back to the Prime Minister about the way we promote staying healthy. You will link up with the Sports Minister.

   

  Sports Minister: As Sports Minister you will work with the Sports Coaches in school to find out about the quality of sport in our school and how well we perform during competitions.

   

  Environmental Minister: As Environmental Minister you will work with the ECO Warriors to ensure we obtain the Silver ECO award. 

   

  We will inform parents and pupils of the newly elected School Council Members and Ministers on Wednesday 21st September. 

   

   

• Start of the Day - 5th September 2016

  From September, we will trial what we hope will be a more effective way of starting the school day.

   

  Entry on to the playground will be from 8.45am. Children are not supervised before 8.45am therefore for health and safety reasons if your child arrives before 8.45am, they must be accompanied by an adult.

   

  At 8.50am, the first bell will ring and our 4 entry doors will open for children to start coming into school. Staff will supervise each entry until 8.55am when a second bell will ring to signal the start of registration.

   

  On arrival into school, children will be asked to begin their first morning task.  It is important that pupils are ready to start the school day on time and are settled. For pupils in years 1- 2 we will encourage them to come into their class independently. Whereas in years 3-6 we expect all pupils to enter class on time and by themselves.

   

  We hope by having a gradual arrival, parents with more than one child will have more flexibility in ensuring their children are happy and in school. Also it will prevent parents from having to wait around on the playground which in turn will help with parking and road congestion.

   

  If parents need to see a member of staff, please either see them before the first bell at 8.50am or come to the office where either I or Mrs Hackett will be available.

   

  On the occasions when it is raining, the main key stage 2 entry door will open at 8.45am to allow for pupils in year 1-6 to come into school. Only pupils in Reception will continue to use their entry door.
