  • Happy Holidays!

    Fri 27 Mar 2015

    Easter Break

We break up today for the Easter holidays and return to school on Tuesday 14th April.

We've had a very busy term which has included Bell Boating, Dance and Tag Rugby Festivals, school curriculum trips and even a Regatta in the village.

On behalf of all the staff at Wolverley Sebright we would like to wish you all a Happy Holiday and we look forward to the Summer Term ahead together.

Mrs Webber will join our team and work with Mrs Harrison until Baby Harrison makes an appearance!

Thank you as always for your support

  • Tag Rugby Festival

    Tag Rugby Festival

    Thursday 26th March

We are extremely proud of our two Tag Rugby teams who took part in the West Mercia Tag Rugby Festival yesterday.
Both teams played with great skill and determination with one team topping their group and the other coming second.
Tommy Manterfield was selected from all the pupils of every school taking part as 'Player of the day'. A great achievement which also highlighted the our teams positive attitude during the tournament.
Mr McDonnell and Mrs Valentine would like to thank the parents who braved the windy pitch during the day and for all their support. Thank you!

  • Solar Eclipse

    Thu 19 Mar 2015

    Solar Eclipse

Parts of the world will witness a solar eclipse on Friday – a rare phenomenon in which the sun is completely obscured by the moon.

Stay safe when viewing the eclipse

Observers must take care when taking photos of the eclipse on digital devices, as eye experts have warned that doing so could cause blindness. Skygazers have been told to not look directly at the sun when they take selfies and other photographs, as doing so can lead to burns at the back of the eye, even with the use of dark sunglasses.

Though looking at the eclipse on a screen is not dangerous in itself, it might lead to inadvertently looking at it in the process of trying to capture the perfect shot.

When viewing the eclipse, you can use a homemade pinhole camera and face away from the sun.

  • Donations for Childhood cancer

    Tue 17 Mar 2015

Hello my name is Elisha Brown.  I am an ex pupil at Wolverley Primary School.  I am trying to raise money for charity by donating my hair to The Little Princess Trust; which is a charity that makes wigs out of donated hair, for childlren and teenagers with cancer or alopecia.  Also the money I raise will go to SANDs [Stillborn And Neonatal Death]; which is a charity that raises money for Cuddle/Cold cots.  A Cold/Cuddle cot is a cot that allows bereaved parents to spend a little extra time with their baby.  This charity has helped close friends of our family over the last six months.  So all I'm asking you for is to part with the change in your pocket and sponsor me for just a small amount or even visit my JustGiving page to sponsor me.  Thank you.

Charlie Hawken: Giving up Gaming for Lent

A 'justgiving' page has been set up to raise money for Comic Relief by Charlie Hawken. I have added the link below and Charlie's statement that appears on the page.

    http://www.justgiving.com/nicky-hawken

    Charlie wrote the following:

As you may know I have given up electrical devices, the reason I have done this is because I believe children spend too much time on their consoles, therefore missing out on the wonderful outdoors. Not only this, but electricity can be put to better use. For example heating cooking etc. If you could sponsor me whilst I participate in this challenge, then I could help people around the globe, it could save a child's life

    You choose

  • Concerns using Oovoo app

    Fri 06 Mar 2015

    Concerns over mobile app/website Oovoo

The following information has been shared with parents of Wolverley CE Secondary School.

If you or your child has any concerns please let me know and follow the guidance in the information below.

There has been national and local concerns raised with regards to child sexual exploitation and the app/website Oovoo.

OoVoo is an app like Skype that allows you to connect with anyone (in groups of up to 12 people), anytime, via video calls, video messages, phone calls, text and more. Like all of these things, there's nothing wrong with the app, just some of the people who use it.

We are aware of specific students in school having been targeted by suspicious characters exposing themselves online and requesting students to respond. If you have any concerns of this nature, please report to CEOP (The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) by visiting their website: http://ceop.police.uk/.

We will inform students in school about the safety issues around using this particular app/website in class in the coming days.

For advice on the safe use of this app, please visit the following website: http://www.bewebsmart.com/app-review/do-you-oovoo-maybe-your-kids-do/.
