  • Stem Cell Donor Event

    Stem Cell Donor

On Friday 28th June we will be holding a Stem Cell Donor Drive after our sports day. This is to support a little boy called Finn who lives locally to us who desperately needs a stem cell transplant to help him fight a potentially life-threatening condition called haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis.  This condition cause the immune system to be dangerously overstimulated.

A number of donor drives have been held locally, although the very rare nature of Finn’s condition means that it is difficult to find a match.

Testing involves swabbing cells from the cheek with a cotton bud and takes no more than 3 to 4 minutes. These cells are then sent away to be tested to see if a suitable donor has been found.

Any individual aged between 17 and 55 is eligible to be swabbed.

We are encouraging all our families to join the donor drive.

    Exciting News!

In September I will begin my eighth year as Headteacher of Wolverley Sebright. Over the past seven years we have become the top performing school in the county and are in the top 1% nationally for  progress in reading by the end of Year 6.

The strength and stability in the team of hard-working and dedicated staff have ensured our pupils receive the best start at this school. We currently have waiting lists for each year group and our school is the first choice for many parents across the county.

As we have grown, so has our capacity to support other schools and pupils. In the past five years, I have supported a range of schools which has in turn provided us with opportunities to explore exciting developments in education. The sharing of best practice has meant, we continue to develop and we have not become complacent.

Instead of continuing to support several different schools, I am delighted to share with you that I have been asked to become the Executive Headteacher of Far Forest Lea Memorial CofE Primary School from September. I will continue to be the Headteacher of Wolverley Sebright and lead both schools with strong and experienced teams in both settings.

The landscape in education is constantly evolving and it is credit to the forward-thinking governors of both schools that this opportunity is possible in retaining my leadership at this school, whilst also extending my role in the trust and county. This is an exciting time and I feel very proud that this    opportunity has been presented to us.

My vision, passion and commitment to the pupils and families of Wolverley Sebright remains the same. It is a privilege to work in a truly wonderful school and I look forward to another successful school year ahead.
