    Government Guidance for Parents

    12.5.2020

Since yesterday's post the Government have provided Schools with additional guidance on how we can support the return of pupils in Reception (Hedgehogs) Year 1 (Robins) and Year 6 (Owls).

We are currently completing a full risk assessment and will be in touch with parents soon to establish parental feeling and opinion to this next phase of returning to school.

How and when we return will be determined only if all health & safety aspects and the Government targets are achieved by 1st June.

Our priority will always be the health and welfare of all of our families. We will only act in the best interests of everyone at our school.

I have added the link for parents to access the latest guidance - we will share our plan before half term as to what measures we will need to put in place and what school will look like in the coming weeks.

As always I am available if you need to speak to me - this is a strange time for us all and we are working hard to ensure we do everything we can to support you and your children.

    Mrs S Reeves-Walters

    School Update

    Monday 11th May

Yesterday evening’s announcement from Downing Street and today’s release of the UK Government’s ‘Covid-19 Recovery Strategy’ has referenced preparations to permit some primary pupils to come back to our country’s schools after June 1 2020, so it is understandably the case that numerous stakeholders are asking for detail and greater clarity.

At this time, the Department for Education has not issued schools with detail or clarity and we are all awaiting the ‘Covid-19 Secure’ guidelines which the Government intends to issue this week.

I had hoped that the guidelines and principles with specific reference to schools would be made available, but clearly we will wait a little longer and we will continue to provide you with information when we get it.

    School Update

    Friday 17th April

On Monday we enter the third phase of Remote Learning, following on from what would of been our Easter break, we return and begin our whole school theme week.

Each term we gather all pupils into house groups and create different learning opportunities over the week following a theme. During the Autumn term our focus was Blooms and British Icons, this term our focus is Appreciation and Gratitude.

You will find, on our website, located under the tab 'Pupils' a new page called 'Wonder Days and Theme Weeks'. On this page each member of staff has created tasks that you can carry out at home with your family. You can start on any area and work through each one over the week.

We hope this will provide a transition from 'Holiday mode' to 'School mode' just as we would if in school.

During next week your child's teacher will be in touch to share the new topic for your child's class that will begin from Monday 27th April. Each teacher will provide your preferred method of working - online, social media or prepared resources. We are here to help so please let us know how we can over the next three weeks.

There are staff on site each day so you can also call us on 01562 850268 if you need any advice or support.

As always stay safe and we look forward to the time when we can all be back together.

  • Free School Meal eligibility

    Fri 03 Apr 2020

Who can apply for free school meals?

    Free School Meals can only be awarded if you or your partner are claiming either;

    • Universal Credit provided they have an annual net earned income not exceeding £7,400 (616.67 per month)
    • Income Support
    • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
    • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
    • Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
    • The guarantee element of Pension Credit
    • Child Tax Credit, provided they are not also entitled to Working Tax  Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190, as assessed by HMRC
    • Working Tax Credit run-on-paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax

If you think you may be eligible for free school meals, please complete the online form on www.gov.uk. Go to ‘schools and education’ then ‘apply for free school meals’. Complete and submit the online form. The necessary checks will then be made and you will be contacted to confirm your eligibility.

If you are eligible, the school will be contacted and you will receive a free school meal voucher for your child / ren up to the value of £11.50 per week per child (£2.30 per day) to spend in a supermarket of your choice. Even if you are not certain whether you may be eligible, I would impress upon you to complete the form anyway then your eligibility can be determined.

Please note that this also applies to children in years Reception, 1 and 2 who already receive meals free of charge via ‘universal free school meals’. Even though, during this time, parents of pupils who receive universal free school meals are not eligible to receive a voucher, if the above criteria applies to you (ie. Benefits received etc) you may be eligible for free school meals and thus receive a voucher.

If you have any queries or questions, please email Mrs Hackett on office@wolverleysebright.worcs.sch.uk. Many thanks

    School Update

    2nd April 2020

Firstly, I hope everyone is staying safe and well.

As we draw closer to the end of the Spring Term our attention turns to Easter. Our plans to hold the annual Easter Service were cancelled and life beyond the Easter break is very uncertain.

However, we will continue to develop ways in which we can stay in contact and support all our families at this time.

If you follow us on Twitter or Instagram you will be able to see daily updates of celebrations from pupils across the school.

Each child has access to Wonde, Google classroom and the class pages on our website. Remote learning is constantly being evaluated and updated to meet the needs of our pupils.

Staff are currently reviewing how this will look after Easter and if any changes or enhancements need to be made - we will do so!

Communication is key and maintaining this in anyway we can. School is open over the Easter break for the children of critical workers but if you need any advice or support please call us on 01562 850268 (9.30am - 2.30pm)

Staff are planning our whole school theme week which will start on Monday 20th April - more on that soon! The aim is for all pupils to 'Have a Go - Just like Joe' and try some of the tasks we will post on the class pages. We will also try to send links via text messages to websites that maybe useful too.

We hope you are feel supported and if you need us please email your child's teacher, me or call School.

    Stay Safe xx

    Message from Kidderminster Food Bank:-

During this current Coronavirus crisis, we are having to close the foodbank for face to face collections as from this Friday 27th March. Referral agents will have to contact us by email to kiddyfb188@gmail.com.

If you have voucher you can email, we would be glad to receive them, otherwise if you can give us their full names and addresses, including post code, family size details and their present situation, we will endeavour to fulfill their needs as far as is humanly possible.

Pre-packed parcels will be delivered to their address sometime between  12.30 and 2.30pm on a Wednesday or Friday. The volunteers will be observing the mandatory social distances and if no response is received to their call the pack will be taken back.

We value your support during this crisis and thank you for helping those in need.

    Many thanks
