  • This Week...

    Thu 08 Mar 2018

    Week Beginning 5th March...

Now all the snow has finally gone it was back to business at school this week.

Mr Cooper joined us on Monday for a magical assembly, Mrs Jefferson joined Hedgehogs until Easter as part of her training and a group from year 6 joined me and four other schools for a trip to London to visit the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday.

Today has been really busy - Celebration assembly was full of awards from the week including invitations to The Golden Table. Today I was joined by Oliver and Theo from Hedgehogs and then Reuben and Morgan from Kingfishers.

This morning Year 3 went Bell Boating with Miss Bidnell and Mr McDonnell and loved every minute of it, despite the rain. Then this afternoon our footballers went off to The Harriers for matches (we await the results!)

Tomorrow we will be holding our Wolverley World Book Day. I can't wait to see the costumes and read with the children during the day.

Look out for photographs from tomorrow on latest news and class web pages.

  • Trip to London

    Trip to London

Students from five primary schools joined together to visit Tate Modern and the Houses of Parliament as part of initiative organised by Severn Academies Educational Trust.

Following a short visit to Tate Modern students followed the Thames path taking in the sights of London before spending over two hours in the Houses of Parliament, observing debates taking place in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

During the afternoon, students were joined by not one but indeed two of our local MPs, Mark Garnier and Nigel Huddlestone, as the schools sit in two constituencies: Stourport Primary Academy, Wilden All Saints, St Bartholomew’s and Wolverley Sebright in Wyre Forest and Hartlebury CE Primary in Mid-Worcestershire.

The visit was part of a series of events organised by Severn Academies Educational Trust which included a visit last week from Diane Hedditch, Parliament Outreach Programme, who delivered an assembly and debating sessions in three local schools involving over 200 students in years 5 and 6 in all five primary schools.

  • Teachers2Parents update

    Fri 02 Mar 2018

    Teachers2Parents

    Text Message Service

As a school, it is very important that our parents/guardians are informed of updates and changes at school in addition to the personal updates you will receive about your child’s progress and well-being.

From the week commencing Monday 5th March, the text messages you receive from school will appear differently on your phone.

Our service provider, Teachers2Parents, are excited to introduce an additional new security verification measure to allow parents/guardians to check that the messages you receive are from school.

Much like telephone banking, you will continue to receive messages from a secure number with the school message ID now in the body of the message, accompanied with a link at the beginning of the message to click through to a Teachers2Parents verification page; confirming that the sender of the message is genuine.

This added security measure is another step forward to help reassure parents/guardians of the safety and well-being of your child at school.

  • School Closure

    Thu 01 Mar 2018

    School Closure

Due to adverse conditions and the forecast that it will worsen overnight School will be closed on Friday 2nd March.

    Please keep safe and warm!

  • Police Investigation

    Thu 01 Mar 2018

    Police Investigation

On Sunday 25th February we were informed that 4 men were seen on the school property around 11.30pm.

No break-in took place - the school is fully alarmed and has CCTV cameras around the building.

However on inspection tiles had been removed and what thieves thought was lead had been taken from the tower on the roof. It was not lead but a non-lead material. The tower was covered in this many years ago.

What we would like to say is a big thank you to our wonderful neighbours who saw and reported the incident and to the police who swiftly attended the scene.

We are very proud of our school and the building that has been here since 1926.

Our message is clear... Thieves keep out and keep off our school.

  • Weather Watch!

    Wed 28 Feb 2018

    Weather Watch!

The most recent forecast is for heavy snow on Thursday evening and through into Friday. We are monitoring the situation and taking advice from other local agencies.

In the event that school is closed we will notify all parents via text message, inform the local news and update the school website as soon as we can.

We never take the decision lightly to close the school and we will continue to monitor the conditions to ensure any decisions made are well informed and based on the how many staff and families can safely get into school.

    Hedgehogs Outdoor Area

Work has begun on the outdoor area of Hedgehogs. Mrs Cartwright and her team with the help of Hedgehogs have designed their outdoor area. New equipment has arrived and the new canopy and flooring will be fitted before the Easter holiday.

The staff and children would like to thank The Sebright Trust who have generously provided the children with a grant in order for the works to take place.

Present and future pupils of this school will benefit greatly from the improved outdoor area.

Look out for pictures on the Hedgehogs website soon!
