It's October already!
So where did September go...? It has been a very busy month back in school with our Hedgehogs (Reception) settling into school life and Owls (Year 6) supporting them in their buddy role.
As we move into the second part of our first half term we focus on elections for our new parliament. A new Prime Minister and cabinet will have the task of developing a new manifesto and selecting new members for their departments.
Education, Environment Sports and Health are the four key areas. Once the votes have been counted we will share with you who has been elected.
In other news Swallows (Year 5) have begin their new role of Snack Bar and Lunch Crew monitors. We also have a fundraising team that have begun research on developing wet play resources for each class. Once their proposal and budget is completed they will present to the PTA who they hope will support them in purchasing the items needed. More details to follow.
The PTA held their first meeting of the school year with the staff room full of parents all supporting the children of this school. The Autumn Disco was first on the agenda - for our new parents please check with parents on the playground for further details or check the PTA information noticeboard which will be updated.
This week Year 5 and 6 took part in First Aid training - the feedback from the trainer was glowing as she remarked what an amazing group of well mannered pupils we have in our school - well done!
More celebrations this month with The Golden Table returning last week to host the Year 6 pupils who supported the Open Morning so well. The Sports Star of the Week book is starting to fill up with photographs of each weeks winners recognised. You must check it out during parents evening which is also just around the corner!
As the leaves start to fall and the nights are slowly getting darker we look forward to the many events and activities ahead. Check our In the Loop and calendar for further details.
Welcome Back!
Welcome back! We have had a wonderful start to the Autumn Term with our new Hedgehogs starting this week along with Beau in Kingfishers. We know everyone will settle quickly into the new routines with the help of our exceptional pupils in year 6 leading the way.
It's been a busy summer with staff in over the summer weeks making lots of improvements in the school. We now have lockers for our Year 5 and 6’s and a new room which our children can access throughout the day including lunchtimes. During the summer holidays Miss Bidnell became Mrs Churchard after her wedding to Steve. We all wish Mr and Mrs Churchard all our love and best wishes for the future.
On behalf of the staff and myself I would like to thank our families for your generosity and kind words at the end of term. We are extremely lucky to have so many supportive families who continue to work with us in making our school so special.
We now focus on the start of a new school year which is an exciting opportunity for all our pupils to recognise their true potential and continue to be successful and happy
Our final week...
What a busy month! Sports Day and sporting events, End of Year Performance of Hoodwinked, the Wolverley Carnival and Fun on the Field.
Today we say our goodbyes to Year 6 - we are so very proud of each pupil and we look forward to celebrating their Graduation from Primary School this evening.
Thank you to them and their parents for supporting the school - we wish them all the very best for the future.
Their recent achievements in the SATs was outstanding! They are ready for Secondary School and we know they will all thrive!
On behalf of all my wonderful staff I would like to wish you all a relaxing and restful Summer Holiday. As the school closes at the end of an amazing year our Holiday door opens on Monday 23rd July.
By the time we return Wolverley Sebright Primary will have become an academy. We look forward to all the opportunities our school w have to make it even better!
TT Rockstars!
Our team of Xander, Taylor and Harley represented the school at the TT Rockstars competition. The pupils had a great day at Ounsdale School involving teams of three from all of our Trust primaries. There were 51 teams and the competition was intense but our students did themselves proud.
Xander picked up the joint first prize for air guitar which came down to a cheer-o-meter – of course, the power of being in a MAT meant we were able to give the loudest cheer!
Well done to all schools and especially Taylor, Xander and Harley.

Arrangements for Sports Day
Our sports day is due to take place on Friday 6th July at Mill Lane, Wolverley.
Parents must bring the children to school as normal but in their Sports Day clothes then head to Mill Lane to help set up.
Children will need to come dressed in their house colour t-shirt (children have been told and a text has been sent to parents with a reminder of the colour needed), shorts, trainers, sun hat and lots of sun cream.
Gazebos will be needed as the forecast at the moment is for sunny periods with a slight breeze. Could we ask if anyone has gazebos please may we borrow them for the day, we will be very grateful. The gazebos will need to be positioned between the two tracks to provide additional shade for pupils.
A drinks station will be set up along with ice lollies available throughout the day. Please send your child with extra to drink, covered in sun cream and wearing a hat!
Staff will be at Mill Lane from 9am with the children making their way down just before 10am ready to start the events just after 10am. We have made the decision for all events to take place on the same day however the timings will need to be altered to avoid children and staff remaining on Mill Lane when the temperature is forecast to be at its highest.
Therefore the day will still be divided into two sections – the morning (10am – 11.30am) comprising of a rotation of activities that the year 6 pupils lead.
Lunch will now be from 11.30am until 12pm.
The afternoon will start just after 12pm and we will aim to finish by 1.30pm. We have assessed Mill Lane throughout the week and the events after lunch will take place towards the bottom of the field where it is very shady.
Please remember children can depart from Mill Lane but only with parents once all activities have been completed. Each member of staff will have a registration and parents must sign their child out before leaving the grounds. I will be on the gate to assist. If your child attends activity club they will return to school with staff.
There will be no Street Dance after school.
If we need to make any changes we will inform all parents straight away.
New Classes for 2018
As we approach the final stage of this school year, we will begin transition arrangements for our pupils across the school. In order to create the right balance of spending time with their new registration group and staff, whilst remaining focused and settled in their current class, we have devised a timetable of events both sides of the summer break.
Each year we examine what has worked well and what could be even better moving into a new school year. The positive feedback from pupils has been wonderful; they have thrived during our themed weeks, forest school, curriculum based day trips and enjoyed the opportunities to work with different staff and children across the school.
A proposed timetable for your child’s new class will ensure this continues and has been sent home today. Please take note of the PE and Forest School days when kits and old clothes must be in school.
Each year group will host a Meet the Teacher morning when parents can spend time in the new classes and take home useful resources that will help your child over the school year. Each session will start in the school hall then move into the classroom.
