Another week... (15.6.18)
New Parents
Welcome to our new parents that joined us last night for the 'New Reception Parents' evening. We can not wait for our new Hedgehogs to join us for transition visits starting on 18th June.
Lots of information was shared during the evening with Information packs given out. If you were unable to attend your Child's Book Bag and Welcome Pack are in the main office for collection.
Body Confidence
We were very fortunate to be granted a visit from Sophie yesterday who spoke with the girls in Years 4-6 about Body Confidence. The feedback has been really positive to this workshop which we are thrilled about. Thank you Sophie - we will all be writing letters to ourselves reminding us that we are beautiful and amazing - please come again!
Carnival
YEAH! We have a lorry (thank you Mr Mason) and plans are underway for the Nursery Rhyme theme.
Children can come dressed as their favourite nursery rhyme character on the day - the lorry will collect the children from the Sebright Green at 12pm on Saturday 7th July.
Thank you for your kind donations - we will use everything to help make the float look amazing!
Reports
Following really good feedback we have redesigned the reports that will be sent out to parents of pupils in Years 1 -6.
Parents will receive two booklets. The first one will cover whether your child is 'Working towards', 'Expected' or 'Exceeding' in each curriculum area. There will also be a grade for attitude in each subject and targets for reading, writing and maths.
The second booklet will cover and celebrate what the children have covered this year.
The final page will be from the child's new teacher which will include an introduction to their new class and what they will be covering from September. We call this 'Flip Learning' which means your child can prepare themselves before September; whether that is research in a particular area or becoming familiar with texts that will be covered during the autumn term.
Parents Evening will also provide an opportunity to talk through all aspects with all staff available on both evenings.
We hope all information shared provides you with an overall and comprehension view of your child's strengths and achievements.
Week ending 8th June...
What a fantastic start to the new term - Spanish Week!
All the children took part in workshops that covered dance, history, geography and food organised by staff and led by Mrs Hall. The atmosphere was fun and exciting!
Look out for the photos and film of the dancing on our website!
Our Bell Boating Team for the upcoming regatta has been selected with training taking place this week. Our crew are working hard to bring home the special trophy again.
We have introduced the Lunchtime Superstars who are selected each day to eat in the Quad. Pupils who demonstrate good manners and behaviour each lunchtime will have the opportunity to eat with friends in our outdoor quad. The names are displayed in the hall to celebrate their achievements.
Eyes Down! Bingo Night took place at WCESS on Friday evening. Prizes, which were all donated, were won for lines and full houses! Money raised will be shared soon! Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun!

What a busy few weeks...!!!
Since my last post the pupils of Wolverley Sebright have been extremely busy in and out of school.
You may have seen the recent article in The Shuttle of our newly formed 'Junior Litter Pick-up artists'. Lauren as our Environmental Minister has recruited many pupils to join her in the 'Keeping Kidderminster and Surrounding Places Clean' . More details will follow in how all pupils can support.
Over the Weekend Madison was named Rosebud at the upcoming Wolverley Carnival with Macey crowned Carnival Princess and Oscar awarded the title of Little Lord. We look forward to supporting our pupils when we join them in the annual procession through Wolverley on July 7th.
Year 5 have now completed their Bell Boating experience with Year 6 due to go in a couple of weeks.
With many sporting events and successes including archery and football the next competition our pupils will take part in is tennis. Wimbledon here we come!
With Monsters taking over in Squirrels and Robin Hood in Key Stage 2 it's been an interesting week!
Joining me at the Golden Table this week have been Rose and Maisy from Squirrels, Becky and Toby from Woodpeckers. Also today I was joined by Theo and Zachary from Hedgehogs and Emilie and Eden from Woodpeckers. Well done to all our Lunchtime SuperStars!
On that note we will wish all our wonderful Year 6 pupils all the very best for next week when they sit their Year 6 SATs. Mr Price, Mrs Valentine and all the staff know it will be an opportunity for them to show everyone how hard they have worked - I hope they relax and enjoy their weekend. Mrs Valentine will have the bacon and sausages at the ready on Monday morning!
The DFE (Department of Education) have provided information for us to share with parents of pupils in Year 2 and Year 6.
We have sent out paper copies of this information but please find links below that you can follow.
Year 2
Parents of pupils in year 2 might be interested in our information leaflet or short video.
Year 6
The information leaflet and video is for parents of pupils in year 6 about key stage 2 (KS2) national curriculum assessments.
They provide information about the purpose of the tests, how parents can best support their children and how results will be reported.
Week 2 of the Summer Term!!!
So where did the sun go.???
What a busy and successful week it has been!
Our Tag Rugby Team took part in the West Mercia Tag Rugby Tournament and didn't lose a match. In the final they drew but came second overall as the organisers counted the total amount of tries scored and the other team had just one more than us. Well done Team (pictured below) we are very proud of you!
On Tuesday I was invited to speak at 'The Raising Standards and Attainment in Education Across the Midlands' in Birmingham. The purpose of my speech was to share the amazing journey our school has been on and how we continue to drive improvement in our school and across several counties.
We had four tiny furry visitors in school on Wednesday. Baby chicks spent the day in school to the great delight of the pupils. Thank you Sophie for bringing the baby chicks into school - we look forward to seeing them again soon!
On Thursday I was joined by Chelsea and Polly followed by Madison and Sophie for lunch at The Golden Table.
Well done girls on being this weeks superstars!
Cycling for Kingfishers and Bell Boating for Year 4 continued this week - despite the April showers!
Finally, congratulations to Mrs Mac who completed her Forest School Leader exams this week - the development of the Forest School has been outstanding and this was reflected in the feedback to Mrs Mac.
Umbrellas at the ready for collection today and the weekend!
Start of the Day
We hope that the lovely weather continues and we can start the day we always intended. As it's been a while here is a reminder...
The playground is open and supervised from 8.40am each day. Children should start to head and wait by their entrance. This is ...
Years 3, 4 , 5 and 6 Woodpeckers, Kingfishers and Owls): The Key Stage 2 entrance next to the office door.
Year 2 (Squirrels): The door by their classroom
Year 1 (Robins): Line up by the outdoor play area and staff will bring the children into school.
Year R (Hedgehogs): The Early Years Entrance gate/ door
If the weather is rainy then Years 1-6 can come into school via the Key stage 2 entrance from 8.45am. Hedgehogs will continue to use their door.
If your child needs to arrive at school before 8.40am we recommended that they use the Early Bird Service available in the Nursery part of the school. Sessions can be booked in by contacting 01562 851851.
For Safeguarding and Health and Safety reasons children should not be left unattended before 8.40am.
Thank you for your cooperation.
