  • Stem Cell Donor Event

    Mon 24 Jun 2019

    Stem Cell Donor

On Friday 28th June we will be holding a Stem Cell Donor Drive after our sports day. This is to support a little boy called Finn who lives locally to us who desperately needs a stem cell transplant to help him fight a potentially life-threatening condition called haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis.  This condition cause the immune system to be dangerously overstimulated.

A number of donor drives have been held locally, although the very rare nature of Finn’s condition means that it is difficult to find a match.

Testing involves swabbing cells from the cheek with a cotton bud and takes no more than 3 to 4 minutes. These cells are then sent away to be tested to see if a suitable donor has been found.

Any individual aged between 17 and 55 is eligible to be swabbed.

We are encouraging all our families to join the donor drive.

    Exciting News!

In September I will begin my eighth year as Headteacher of Wolverley Sebright. Over the past seven years we have become the top performing school in the county and are in the top 1% nationally for  progress in reading by the end of Year 6.

The strength and stability in the team of hard-working and dedicated staff have ensured our pupils receive the best start at this school. We currently have waiting lists for each year group and our school is the first choice for many parents across the county.

As we have grown, so has our capacity to support other schools and pupils. In the past five years, I have supported a range of schools which has in turn provided us with opportunities to explore exciting developments in education. The sharing of best practice has meant, we continue to develop and we have not become complacent.

Instead of continuing to support several different schools, I am delighted to share with you that I have been asked to become the Executive Headteacher of Far Forest Lea Memorial CofE Primary School from September. I will continue to be the Headteacher of Wolverley Sebright and lead both schools with strong and experienced teams in both settings.

The landscape in education is constantly evolving and it is credit to the forward-thinking governors of both schools that this opportunity is possible in retaining my leadership at this school, whilst also extending my role in the trust and county. This is an exciting time and I feel very proud that this    opportunity has been presented to us.

My vision, passion and commitment to the pupils and families of Wolverley Sebright remains the same. It is a privilege to work in a truly wonderful school and I look forward to another successful school year ahead.

  • The week that was...

    Fri 22 Mar 2019

What a Week... What a month!

March is always jammed packed with events in school and this year was no different.

Last week the whole school took part in Red Nose Day fundraising. Noses were brought... sponges were thrown... pupils wore red... dancing took place... lots of money was raised (final total to come)

Bell Boating has started with pupils taking part in taster sessions.

The 2019 Pyramid Concert took place at The Kidderminster Town Hall. Our pupils from year 5 and 6 sang and danced to songs from the 80's. We were so proud of them!

Sporting events such as Tag Rugby and cricket continue through March with pupils across the school taking part in a range of activities lead by Mr McDonnell. Look out for further information in the April edition of In the Loop!

World Book Day was amazing! Mr Price has had several pictures of children reading in unusual places - photos are now in school so look out for them next time you are in.

Mr Price hosted a training day for SCITT students this week. The focus in English was to use Quality Texts to enhance writing opportunities. Thank you Mr Price.

Bell Heath Outdoor Elements have now set up our very own orienteering course on our grounds. Schools across the Severn's Academies Educational Trust will all have the opportunity to use the resources on each site.

Phew! One week left of March... how much more can we fit in???
