At Wolverley Sebright Primary Academy we express our deepest sympathies for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her dedication to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and to the Commonwealth is unparalleled, and we thank her for her service.
Our school will observe the mourning period but will continue to support our pupils and families. Unless otherwise stated, please assume any activities and events we have scheduled will continue as planned. We will continue to follow national guidance; further information will be shared in due course.
Welcome to Wolverley

The emergency services have concerns that, with schools closing early in the continuing hot weather, young people may be out more in the community and therefore need to raise awareness about the dangers of open water swimming.
Advice for staying safe around water
·Never swim in open water when there are no life-guards present
·Stop and think – spot the dangers. Don't jump or dive into open water; submerged objects such as rocks may not be visible and can cause serious injuries
·Stay together
·Be aware that there may be strong currents, even where the water surface appears calm
·Weirs, locks, pipes and sluices are especially dangerous
·Take note of warning signs, safety information or flags near the water's edge
·Water can be very cold even in summer, causing cramp and breathing difficulties – these can affect even the strongest swimmer
·Get out of the water as soon as you start to feel cold
·Keep away from the river's edge and closely supervise young children at all times
·Wear the recommended safety equipment for your activity, e.g. life jackets/helmets
·Alcohol may impair your ability and judgment; never go swimming under the influence of alcohol
·In an emergency, float
·Call 999 or 112 in an emergency.

Advice for Monday & Tuesday
Kidderminster has been issued an Alert Level 3 warning for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with temperatures predicted to top 38 degrees.
If your child has any underlying health or medical condition that will be made worse during this time, please let us know. It may be wise for them to remain at home where parents can regulate their temperature.
Likewise, if there are any parents that wish to keep their child at home as excessive heat could lead to their child being adversely affected, please let us know.
School will be open, and we will try our very best to maintain a cool and calm environment for all. We will avoid spending time outside during peak times. Children are advised to wear cool, light clothing including a sun hat and must have a drinks bottle that can be refilled in School throughout the day.
