Parent Workshop
Tuesday 12th September
2.00pm – 3.15pm
Building resilience in your child
The workshop, which is open to all our parents in Nursery and School will cover:
What is resilience and what contributes to it.
Strategies and ideas that you can use to support building resilience in your child.
Amy and Anna from the Wellbeing & Emotional Support Teams (WEST) will; lead on the information session. We highly recommend, if you are available, to join us. They will share lots of great ideas if your child:
- lacks confidence in new situations,
-tends to give up easily or quickly,
-finds it hard to regulate their emotions,
-struggles at times to maintain a positive outlook,
-or just finds certain things tricky at times
Welcome Back!
We are so excited to have all our pupils and families back with us for a new school year.
Just to help with the start and end of the day please follow the guidance below:
Look out for this week's In the Loop which will provide more information and details on what is coming up this term.
Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete
You may have seen recent media coverage regarding Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) and its use in educational settings. The Department for Education (DfE) has recently changed its guidance to take a more precautionary approach, given the concerns about the long-term durability of RAAC and we appreciate the concern this may raise for our children and families, but want to reassure you that safety is a key priority for all of our schools.
We do not have any confirmed RAAC in our buildings and have not been asked to close any areas. However, naturally we want to take particular care around this and the Trust Estates team are currently working with the DfE and surveyors to review the construction of relevant parts of our buildings.
The change in guidance is precautionary in nature, and only affects education premises where the presence of RAAC has been confirmed. If, at any stage, RAAC is identified, we will let parents/carers know straight away, and we have contingencies in place to prioritise the continuation of education and that the impact on children is kept to an absolute minimum.
Rest assured that the safety of children and staff is of paramount importance to all concerned.
Thank you for your understanding.
Below is an overview for the Carnival on Saturday.....
Our after school Carnival Club have been busy creating the artwork for our wonderful float which will be showcased from midday on Sebright Green. The theme is 'Discovering King Tut' so children can come dressed as1920's explorers or egyptians.
Children who have signed up to travel on the float will then travel from Sebright Green (which is the field surrounded by Sebright Road, Hayes Road & Knight Road) to the Memorial hall field (opposite the school).
Please note, for health & safety reasons, only a limited number of children can travel on the float, a sign up form was sent out to all parents earlier in the week. Priority will of course be given to those children who attended the Carnival after school club.
Children who do not wish to travel on the float can meet on Sebright Green to see the float, and have their photo taken on the float if they wish, and then walk with parental/carer supervision in the procession following the float (collecting monies if they wish) to the Memorial Hall car park where the procession ends.
The fun will then continue on the field opposite the school with our PTA Tombola (a sign up sheet to volunteer your time was sent out yesterday) and with our school performances, being Maypole, Dance and Hula Hoop.
Our school's slot starts from 1.30pm, so if your child is performing please arrange to meet staff on the field from 1.15pm. Mrs Harrison for Maypole, Miss Smith for dance and Mrs Phillips for Hula Hooping (light cream gazebo). A form has been sent to the Hula hooping club today so parents can confirm attendance.
Maypole dancers can wear whatever they'd like...costume, sports kit etc, so long as they have suitable footwear on. Dance and hula need to be wearing sports or PE kit, again with suitable footwear.
We are hoping the sunny weather continues & everyone has an enjoyable day!
