English - 

In English we are going to be reading Little people big dreams 'Amelia Earhart'. The children will be writing poems, newspaper reports and setting descriptions. We will be revisiting expanded noun phrases and other key features. 

We will also be exploring poetry and reading a variety of poems from 'The Puffin Book of Fantastic First Poems.' 

In grammar lessons we will be focusing on possessive apostrophes and contractions. 

Spelling Focus - 

This term we will be learning the different rules when adding suffixes to root words. 

Maths - 

We will be learning about money, multiplication and division. 

Science - 

We will be focusing on plants and taking part in an experiment. We will also be learning about living things and their habitats. 

History - 

In History we will be learning about 'How did we learn to fly?' and significant people that helped develop the history of flight. 

Art - 

In Art we will be developing our practical skills working with clay and applying artistic techniques in a project. 

Computing - 

We will be learning about IT around us.

PE - 

Mr Bishop will be focusing on dance and developing different dance skills.

Music - 

Through our Charanga scheme, we will be inventing our own 'musical story'. 

PSHE - 

Through our Jigsaw scheme we will be looking at the topic 'Dreams and goals.'

RE - 

In RE we use the Jigsaw Scheme to aid our learning. This half term the children will be learning about 'How important is the Prophet Muhammad to Muslims?'

Welcome to Autumn 1, our theme this term is 'Location, Location, Location!'. 

English: In English we will be reading 'Meerkat Mail'. The children will be recapping sentence structure, writing descriptions and writing an information text about meerkats. 

Maths: We will be focusing on place value to 100 as well as some addition and subtraction.

Science: We will be focusing on animals' needs for survival, focusing on the 6 main animal groups. 

Geography: We will be focusing on a key question. Would you prefer to live in a hot or cold country?

Art: The key skill we will be focusing on is 'Drawing'. We will be developing a range of mark making techniques, exploring and experimenting with mark making to create textures, observational drawing, applying expressions to illustrate a character and developing illustrations to create a story. 

Computing: We will be creating media through digital photography.

PE:  Mr Bishop and Mrs Hemming will be focusing on invasion games and developing throwing and catching skills. 

Music: Through our Charanga scheme, we will be exploring pulse, rhythm and pitch with music. 

PSHE: Through our Jigsaw scheme, we will be looking at the topic 'Being Me in My World'.
