English;
In English this term we will be reading a range of non-fiction texts to understand the different features of non-fiction writing. This will lead the children into writing their own non-chronological reports after gathering facts and information to include. We will also be reading the text ‘The day the crayon quit’ by Drew Daywalt to explore writing a persuasive letter.
Maths:
In maths we will be following the White Rose scheme of work. We will continue to learn about multiplication and division using written methods. After we will change focus to length and perimeter, learning about how to measure and calculate perimeters.
Science:
Our topic will be fossils and soils.This half term children will have the chance to learn about a famous scientist (Mary Anning) and conduct an experiment about different soils.
History:
History is led by Mr Price and the children will be learning about Stone, age, Iron age and the Bronze age.. They will understand what it was like in these different ages and the impact this has had on us now.
PSHE:
Our PSHE follows the Jigsaw scheme of learning. Our topic this half term will be dreams and goals. We will look to the future to see what the children hope to achieve when they are older and talking about overcoming obstacles to achieve these.
RE:
In RE we use the Jigsaw scheme to aid our learning.This half term the children will be learning about the Humanist faith with a focus on how to lead a good life and what this means to the children.
Art:
In art we will be completing a drawing based unit. The children will learn about different techniques artists use when sketching such as tone, blending and shading. They will develop their knowledge of artists and have a chance to create their own artwork.
Computing:
In computing the children will be using J2E to create animations. They will explore how we can make images move using the software to create their own short animations.
PE:
Our PE sessions will be led by Mr Bishop with support from Miss Chammings. They will take place on Thursday afternoons and will give the children opportunities to try new sports by building up techniques and putting them into practice. This half term they will be doing dance.
Music:
In music the children will be learning to play some basic notes on the recorder. We will use this knowledge to learn a song together.
Spanish:
Spanish lessons will have a focus on the theme of the Circus. The children will get the opportunity to learn some new spanish words and use them when talking to their friends.
