Escape Into The Words Of...

Escape into the words of......Up and Down the Andes by Laurie Krebs and Aurelia Fronty.

In rhyming verse, Up and Down the Andes describes children from various parts of Peru traveling to the city of Cusco, Peru, to participate in Inti Raymi, a traditional Inca festival. The endnotes contain excellent information about Inti Raymi and other Peruvian festivals, Peru’s history, the Andes Mountains, and the ancient city of Machu Picchu.

Can you draw a set of pictures showing what happened in the story..... how did it begin, who are the characters, where did they do, how did it end?

CHALLENGE: Escape into the words of....... Paulo Coelho

Paulo Coelho de Souza is a Brazilian lyricist and novelist, best known for his novel The Alchemist. He is an inspirational writer and many of the things he has written have been used to help others.

Read some of his quotes and then see if you can come up with some inspirational quotes of your own.

Here are some of the things he has said about life……

“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

“Be Brave. Take risks. Nothing can substitute experience.”

“Nothing in the world is ever completely wrong. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.”

“When you are enthusiastic about what you do, you feel this positive energy. It’s very simple.”

“When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”

“One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted. Do it now.”

“One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted. Do it now.”

“A child can always teach an adult three things: to be happy for no reason, to always be busy with something, and to know how to demand with all his might that which he desires.”
